An 18 year old presents with headache while drumming. Then vomited and finally mom stepped in a day later and made him go to hospital…. Lesson #1. Something weird or in doubt err on side of safety especially for your kids, or people with funky medical histories. This gentleman had a very rare tumor incidentally years before and was cured….
The crazy thing is, this patient had a CT neck (not meant to view arteries, but can sometimes get lucky). In retrospect there is a 1-2 mm aneurysm, not callable prospectively and unfortunately would not be at fault to be missed.
Here we are today with the sad case that makes me cringe and and wonder if there is or isn’t a case? But the patient would have to be attuned and know all of this, and on top of that I’d need much more information to make a judgement if this is a miss and someone could have prevented such.
Here is the large aneurysm that grew massively from 2016 and popped….. and now will result in a young man with permanent injury and a lifetime of hardship working, relationships etc.
